2023

_________

Houston, TX - 07 December  2023 Forland Geophysical Services (FGS) and Tarim Oilfield Company will jointly present a technical paper, titled "Super-long-offset experiment for velocity model building" at the 2024 SEG 1st Tarim Ultra-Deep Oil & Gas Exploration Technology Workshop.

SEG website:

https://seg.org/calendar_events/2024-seg-1st-tarim-ultra-deep-oil-gas-exploration-technology-workshop/

Summary:

The groundbreaking super-long-offset experiment recently conducted in the foreland basin of the Tarim Oilfield has demonstrated that more accurate and reliable velocity model can be estimated using turning-ray tomography at a great depth. If the first arrivals with offsets up to 15 km are used in tomography, the estimated velocity model is reliable down to 3.5 km. This is significant because it improves the robustness of velocity model building using both refraction and reflection data for prestack depth migration.

Houston, TX - 09 July 2023 - Schlumberger (SLB) and Forland Geophysical Services (FGS) have recently been ranked by PetroChina Tarim Oilfield Company as one of the best 2022 seismic processing and imaging service providers. This ranking was conducted among 16 service companies, based on their service quality, problem solving ability and technologies.
In the past 5 years, Forland Geophysical Services has successfully developed and applied leading-edge technologies to solve complex near-surface and subsurface imaging problems in the Tarim Basin, including sand-velocity-curve constrained near-surface tomography (SVCT) and high-resolution static corrections, joint refraction and reflection tomography for velocity model building and TTI anisotropic PSDM from topography, and robust CWT noise attenuation and interbed-multiple attenuation. Those technologies are very useful in the most complex areas around the world as well, such as the Middle East and South America.
The Tarim Oilfield is the 3rd largest oilfield on land in China, which produced 7.36 million tons of crude oil and 32.3 billion cubic meters of natural gas in 2022. Currently the focus of the oilfield is exploration and production of ultra-deep reservoirs, 10,000m below the surface covered by the foothills and desert complexity.
